Packers Preview: Thank God for the Lions

Packers (1-1) v Lions (1-1)
GB -7, 46
Lambeau Field
Sunday September 25
1:05 EST
FOX

Hoping to keep the Wisconsin football teams undefeated at Lambeau cough cough LSU, the Green Bay Packers play host to the Detroit Lions in week 3. Coming off a dreadful performance on National TV, the Pack are looking for a bounce back win against a Lions team who just came off a terrible home loss to the Titans. Ranking 31st in passing yards, 19th in both rushing yards and points per game the Lions.....PACKERS are not performing to their capable potential. With Jordy back, Lacy on his p90x crap, and the easiest schedule in the NFL this year, we all thought Super Bowl or bust.

Now a september game against the Lions does not prove much but we already cashed in our Hail Mary last year so hopefully the offense shows up. If the GOAT Rodgers didn't pull that magic trick out of his ass last year, the Lions would have been the first NFC North team to sweep the Packers since Brett Favre and the Vikings did in 2009. One reason why I love shitty professional franchises is for statistics like this. Being born in 1992, I never saw the Lions win in Green Bay until last year as they snapped a 24 game losing streak. In order for a new streak to begin, look for the offense to have a fast start with aggressive game plan to never let the Lions have hope.

With a career QBR average of 106% vs the Lions, Rodgers should feast on the Lions secondary which ranks 23nd in Net Passing Yards allowed. During his weekly press conference, the greatest play calling coach of all time Mike McCarthy discussed improving field position. Look for McCarthy to develop the wonderful run game the Packers have by calling for Eddie Lacy to run the same HB draw over and over.

Player to Watch: Davante Adams. Averaging over 12 yards per catch this year, Rodgers will have plenty of time due to the lackluster defensive line so Adams should work his way down the field.

Prediction: 33 Packers Lions 17, wont be an exciting game but McCarthy's winning percentage of .750 vs the NFC North since 2006 should make packer fans very confident.
